The New York Jets will be hoping to avoid slipping to 0-4 when they face the Miami Dolphins on Monday Night Football with the Aaron Glenn-era not getting off to the greatest of starts
Michael Strahan believes New York Jets head coach Aaron Glenn will eventually lead the team in the right direction while bringing the Detroit Lions' culture with him from his former team.
Glenn was named Jets head coach this offseason after his impressive four-year stint as Lions defensive coordinator, being seen as a strong leader while New York hoped he'd bring his success with him that he had in Detroit. He replaced Robert Saleh who left midseason, returning to the San Francisco 49ers as defensive coordinator this offseason.
So far though, the Jets have not had the best start - falling to 0-3 with losses over the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Jets had hung in with both the Steelers and Buccaneers while showing moments of exciting play, but failed in the final minutes of both games.
While it's been a disappointing start in the win-loss column, bringing Jets fans that all too familiar feeling of a season perhaps already being lost after just a few games - Strahan believes good times are ahead of the franchise.
The Pro Football Hall of Famer is backing Glenn to bring a winning culture to the team, something he'd been a part of with both Dan Campbell at the Lions and under Sean Payton at the New Orleans Saints.
Speaking on FOX NFL Kickoff, Strahan said: "Knowing Aaron Glenn as long as I have known him and Dan Campbell in Detroit and seeing what they went through at first... all of a sudden, guys buy into the culture and it turns around.
"I didn't expect Glenn to come into the Jets and turn it around in one year, but I do expect to see flashes from them... which we have seen!
"So I think Glenn is on the right track with this team and the Jets could be the AFC East Detroit team in the next few years."
The Jets have been without starting quarterback Justin Fields for more than half of the season so far, picking up an injury early in their matchup against the Bills before being ruled out of their loss to the Buccaneers.
But they'll get him back for their game against their AFC East opponents in the Miami Dolphins, who are also facing falling to 0-4 after a similarly disastrous start.
The game could go a long way in either team beginning to make some decisions to their roster, with the trade deadline coming in four weeks time - with teams potentially considering moving on from assets they believe they will lose in the off-season, potentially picking up draft picks in compensation.
Glenn signed a multi-year deal with the Jets, and likely would not have been given a target in his first year in terms of making the playoffs - with the team in need of stability after the Aaron Rodgers-era ended.
